"Be Kind to Others”

James 2:8 (NLT)

8 Yes indeed, it is good when you obey the royal law as found in the Scriptures: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”

The Golden Rule, “to treat others like you want to be treated”. A good philosophy to live by is to go out of your way to be kind to others. Being kind is a choice we make. We all could probably agree some days are easier than others to be friendly. On days when things are going great it is easy to be kind to others. Then there are those frustrating days when it tough to be kind to anyone. Hopefully, those days don’t happen very often.

God intends for believers to be kind to others no matter what our circumstances or our emotions are. Therefore, kindness is a choice we must make several times a day. When we weave kindness into the fabric of our lives, we can be a blessing to others. Look at how many places you run into other people, your coworkers at work, people at the grocery store, and don’t forget the people in traffic. We live in a world where we run into all kinds of people. Some are easy to show love to and others take an extra measure of “Grace”.

If we have the true love of God in our hearts, we will show it in our lives. We won’t have to make a big deal about it, we can just let it exhibit in all areas of our lives. There are several places in the Bible where it tells us to kind to one another. Peter tells us in First Peter and Paul tells us in Ephesians.

1 Peter 3:8 (NKJV)

8 Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble.

Ephesians 4:32 (NIV)

32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

If you need help to show compassion and kindness to others, go to the Lord in prayer. Ask God to give you the opportunity to show His Love towards others. Then get ready because God will give you that opportunity.
