Do You Stay Awake Worrying About Your Kids?
Do you stay awake worrying about your kids?
I can remember when my boys had jobs during college working in a restaurant. Working in a restaurant can get your children home well after midnight. Then later in life I had a son who went into the military and now he is really out past bedtime. If you allow it, this can lead to some restless nights of sleep for a parent that worries about their safety and wonders where their children are at.
Here is how I handled this phase of my life. Prayer!! Turn your children’s safety over to God. Sometimes as parents it is hard to come to grips that you no longer have your children under your umbrella of protection. But who better to put their protection under than God. This is when you have to depend on God’s Sovereign protection of your children. Psalm 91 has great verses on to read and pray over for the protection of you children.
Psalm 91: 1 - 2
1Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”
Psalm 91: 10 – 12
10 no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent.
11For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; 12 they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
Trusting in God for the protection of your children can also give you a good night sleep. Just think, while we sleep our Lord and Savior is watching over our children no matter where they are at in the world. That can give us great peace and takes away any anxiety we might have.
