“Don’t Fear Weakness”
We all have some weaknesses in our life and then we have some areas that we are strong. Sometimes God can work through our weaknesses more than He does through our strengths.
We see this many times in the bible that God did not always choose the strongest. God had chosen Gideon to lead the Israel Army. Gideon replied that his clan is the weakest and that he was the least in the family.
Judges 6:15 (NIV)
15 “Pardon me, my lord,” Gideon replied, “but how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family.”
Gideon sense of weakness is no problem for God. God told Gideon I will be with you. God says the same thing to us.
The Apostle Paul dealt with the same thing.
2 Corinthians 12:9-10 (NIV)
9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
When we are facing something that exposes our weakness, don’t run from it. Embrace it and lay it before our Lord. God longs to enter, transform and empower our lives. We can be overconfident and self-reliant on our strengths and forget to bring it to the Lord. If we rely on God’s strength instead of ours, we can never fail.
