“God Blesses Obedience”
Deuteronomy 5:33 (NIV)
33 Walk in obedience to all that the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess.
God promises that obedience matters. The bible is full of God’s commands, these are not “suggestions” they are not “helpful hints”. These are God’s instructions that lead to repentance, salvation, and an abundant life. God loves us and is committed to us. He commands our obedience, not because He is a strict taskmaster, but because He knows the devastating effects disobedience and sin will have on our lives.
Charles Stanley always says, “Obey God and leave all the consequences to Him”. It sounds simple, but it is true. We learn God’s instructions or His commandments by reading and studying the bible, then obey what it says. To obey God is better than sacrifice.
1 Samuel 15:22 (NIV)
22 But Samuel replied:
“Does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the Lord? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams.
