“God’s Sovereignty”
I have had an opportunity to be in a few studies at church that were created by James McDonald. One of these studies was on the “Attributes of God”. One of my favorite attributes that we studied was on God’s Sovereignty. A lot of people are not real sure what God’s Sovereignty really means. In Darrell’s layman definition. God has sovereign authority and influence over every event that happens in our world according to His purpose. I take it a step further God has sovereign authority over everything that happens is Darrell’s life according to His purpose. That might sound scary to some people, but I take great comfort in knowing God controls everything He wants to in my life.
I put my faith and trust in God’s sovereignty over my life. This increases my faith when I pray and gives me confidence knowing God is in control. I know I have a Father in Heaven that hears my prayers and then He has the Sovereign authority to control and influence every event of my life. Does this mean nothing bad will happen to me? No, I have had bad medical diagnosis before, I have had illnesses and lost loved ones. I am getting older and if rapture doesn’t come first, I know I will some day pass away. It just means God has Sovereign Authority over all of this. Do I understand everything there is to know about Sovereignty? Not even close. I just know that God is in control of everything. Who would you rather have in control? I want God in control of my life.
So, the next time you pray, just think you are putting your faith and trust in a Sovereign God. Amen!!
Proverbs16:33
The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from the LORD.
Isaiah 45:7-9
I form light and create darkness; I make well-being and create calamity; I am the LORD, who does all these things. “Shower, O heavens, from above, and let the clouds rain down righteousness; let the earth open, that salvation and righteousness may bear fruit; let the earth cause them both to sprout; I the LORD have created it. Woe to him who strives with him who formed him, a pot among earthen pots! Does the clay say to him who forms it, ‘What are you making?’ or ‘Your work has no handles’?
