“Moms are Always on Watch”
Moms always have an eye on their kids, my mom was no different. She was the first to pick me up when I got hurt. I know she heard everything; she could hear the moment fun and games got out of hand and turned into one of us kids crying. She wanted the best for us kids, but she demanded that we behave. You knew you crossed the line when she told you to go to your bedroom and wait until your dad got home from work.
My mother was my Sunday School teacher on more than one occasion. In the small town where I grew up, I had family members (aunts and a grandmother) that taught my Sunday School classes over the years. There was no misbehaving in those classes. Mom was always concerned about my spiritual walk even as I was an older man.
Mom had her ways of getting her message across. In my rebellious years I had stopped going to church and this broke mom’s heart. She had her ways of letting me know. One of the ways would be after I asked her what she wanted for her birthday or Mother’s Day. Her response would be, “I just want my kids to go back to church”. Well, it finally worked, and I started going back to church. I can say now, thank God mom did not give up on me. Mom knew the importance of a spiritual upbringing in her kids.
In 3 John talks about the joy a mom has when her kids are following God.
3 John 1:4
I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.
