“Pulled in Two Directions”

“Pulled in Two Directions”

Have you ever been pulled in two different directions? You are caught between wanting to please man and it brings conflict with pleasing God. It is easy to get caught being pulled in two different directions. We all want to be liked by others, so it is easy to do things for man’s approval. That in itself isn’t necessarily bad, but it can reroute our ultimate goal of pleasing God and bringing him glory.

We are headed for trouble when our desire to please people and gain their approval becomes as important as pleasing God. One of the slippery slopes we run into is we can’t always please people and when we fall short in pleasing people it can bring up internal conflict, which draws us away from our relationship with God. As we grow closer in our relationship to God the desire to please God becomes more important. Jesus explained to his disciples that loving God was demonstrated by obeying God.

John 14:21

21 Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.”

If we start off our day by pleasing God first, then pleasing people secondary. We will have a great day. Follow Jesus example of pleasing God and man.

Luke 2:52

And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.
