Spend time with the Heavenly Father
I had a great dad growing up. He was one of those dads who would listen to me and then give me his thoughts. As I think back about my dad it is easy to see that he made time for me. In my early years we lived on a farm. I can remember dad always had farm work to do, but he made time to hit flyballs to me or he would spend time shooting hoops with me. The most important things were not how good I threw or caught the ball, but the time I spent with my dad.
Time is something we can’t get back. Once the day is over, we can’t get the time back. At the end of the day can you say that you spent time with our Heavenly Father.
We have a Heavenly Father who wants to spend time with us. Do we make the effort to spend time with God? If our relationship with God seems distant, try spending time with Him. I know in my life the times that I felt distant from God was because I did not spend time with him. There are no short-cuts. We need to spend time with God to draw close to God.
Jesus gave us a great example on spending time to talk to the Father daily. What an example to follow.
Matthew 14:23
3 And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.
Follow this up in James where it says if we draw near to God he will draw near to you.
James 4:8
Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
So, if you want to draw close to God spend time talking with God.
