Still Small Voice
1 Kings 19;12(KJV)
And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.
The Lord speaks to us through the Holy Spirit. He is the third person of the Trinity, co-equal with God the Father and God the Son. God’s Spirit dwells within each Christian, just as Jesus promised. Do we listen to the Holy Spirit?
John14:15-17
15 “If you love me, keep my commands. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever 17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.
Paul refers to believers as being “led by the Spirit”, in order to be led by the Holy Spirit we have to listen to the still small voice that dwells within us.
Romans 8:14 (NIV)
14 For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God.
Like the Lord Jesus Christ, the Spirit is equally God, and He freely submits to the Father’s will. The Spirit is referred to as the “Spirit of Truth” that will guide us in all truth. So we need to listen to the still small voice “the Holy Spirit” that indwells each believer.
John 16:13 (NIV)
13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.
