The Changing Power of God

Have you ever talked to someone that thought they had led such an awful life that there is no way God would love them? I am sure we all have done things that we are not proud of. Thank God that He loved us so much that He sent Jesus to pay the price of our sins.

I think of Paul in 1 Timothy 1:16 where he referred to himself the worst of sinners.

1 Timothy 1:16

16 But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his immense patience as an example for those who would believe in him and receive eternal life.

For those who do not know, Paul persecuted the early church. He had men and women who believed in Jesus thrown into prison. He also participated in the death of believers. Through all these sins, Paul found that Jesus Love, Grace and Mercy was more powerful than the evil within Him.

The same God that changed Paul is the same God that can change us. In the presence of God when we put our faith and trust in what Jesus did for us on the cross, we too can see God’s changing power in our life.

God changes us from the inside out. Once we put our faith and trust in Jesus, we have the Holy Spirit that takes residence in each believer. The change starts with the heart and then affects our outwardly behavior. There will be ups and downs, but God’s love, grace, and mercy is powerful enough to overcome and change any sinner.

Romans 6:6

6 For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin.
