“The Salt of the Earth”
It is so easy to be distracted by all that is happening in our world today. As Christians it is easy to get caught up in what the world offers and allow it to draw us away from our walk with God. Jesus tells us we are not to become like salt that has lost its flavor.
Matthew 5:13
13 “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot
This verse means we are to focus on God’s ways, and not dissolve into something that looks like the world with all its confused priorities. No matter how much we are blessed or frustrated with what is going on in the world, we need to be grounded in God’s Word and His love. One of the greatest compliments we can have is have someone refer to us as “the salt of the earth.”
1 John 2:15
Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
Romans 12:2
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
If the world seems like it is lost its mind, as Christians we need to keep our focus on Christ and be “the salt of the earth.”
