“The Valleys in Life”
Psalm 23 is one of most popular passages in the bible. David started his life as a shepherd, he was herding his father’s sheep when he went to take food to his brothers who was part of the Israelite army fighting the Philistines with the giant Goliath. So, David understood all about being a shepherd, and he symbolized the human race as the flock (the sheep) and God as their Shepherd.
Verse 4 talks about going through the valley of the shadow of death. Our life has those times when we are on top of the mountain and then there are those low times when we are in the valley. I am pretty sure all of us have gone through valleys in our life, ` we might even be there now. Life is full of the valleys, we might be dealing with health issues, children's issues, marriage issues, loss of a loved one, loss of employment, loss of a friendship. The point is there can be so many things in life that can take us into the valley.
Even though we go through the valleys we need to hang in there. Verse 4 goes on to say that we have nothing to fear, because we are not alone. God is with us in the valleys to comfort us and lead us.
Psalm 23:4
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
So, no matter how deep the valley seems like; stay close to God and let him guide you through the valleys in life.
