“This World Is Not My Home”
John 14:1-3
1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
There is a worship song, “This World is not my Home” that is uplifting. The words talk about our future home in heaven, where we have had friends and family that have gone home before us. Heaven is our real home.
“This World is not my home,
I’m just a passing through
My treasures and my hope
Is placed beyond the blue
Many friends and kindred
Have gone on before
And I can’t feel at home
In this world anymore”
We all have had family members and friends that have died and thankfully they had put their faith, and trust is Jesus for His redeeming action of dying on the cross for their sins. These loved ones have gone home to our real home in heaven. As the song says we are just passing through this place we call earth.
I look forward to the reunion someday of loved ones that have already gone home. Heaven is where our citizenship is at.
Philippians 3:12 (HCSB)
20 but our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.
