“To be like Daniel”

I started reading the book of Daniel this week. It is so enjoyable reading Daniel, and this book is so inspiring for Christians to follow Daniel’s example. To be like Daniel would be to stand on God’s principles in our life. Daniel was a young Israelite living in exile in Babylon, yet he still follows God.

What an example Daniel provides. He is a man willing to stand alone. It did not matter that the leadership of Babylon insisted on a particular diet. He knew he was right and that giving in would mean defiling himself. “But Daniel resolved that he would not defile himself.” It didn’t matter what pressure others applied.

Daniel 1:8

8 But Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the royal food and wine, and he asked the chief official for permission not to defile himself this way

To be like Daniel, is for us to stand “by a purpose true,” always heeding “God’s command.” It takes courage to take a stand on living a life that honors God. It can be unpopular to make a stand for Christ. However, when Christians show the same courage that Daniel exhibited, they would live a life that is victorious.

Believers should not be timid but stand for Godly principles like Daniel. Believers should be confident that God is with us and be willing to share our faith.

Don’t allow your values to be shaped by popular opinion. Remember: God is with you. Stand for the truths in His Word. Dare to be like Daniel.

Luke 11:28

28 He replied, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.”
