“Ups and Downs of David”
Acts 13:22 (NIV)
22 After removing Saul, he made David their king. God testified concerning him: ‘I have found David, son of Jesse, a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do.
One of the heroes of the Bible is David. He earned the title of a man after God’s own heart. This is because he had a deep desire to follow God’s will and do “everything” God wanted him to do. He was a man after God’s own heart.
David had his ups and downs in life. He had victories and he had defeats. We all have heard the story of the shepherd boy David taking on Goliath and defeating him. He also lived part of his life being chased by King Saul who wanted to kill David. David was also a man that had a innocent man killed to satisfy the desire of his heart.
Despite all these up and down, many wonder why David was a man after God’s heart. Despite his failures David loved the Lord, and he put his confidence in God.
Psalm 27:1 (NIV)
1 The Lord is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid?
I don’t want to make the mistakes David did, but I want to love God the way David did.
