Who do You Turn to in a Storm?
There have been a couple of storms so far this Hurricane season. Have you ever been out on the ocean when the seas were rough? As I have shared before, I served on a Navy Aircraft Carrier and even though it is a large ship I have witnessed waves splashing on the flight deck. The seas were too rough for us to go into port, and we had to head out to sea.
In Mark 4:35-41 it tells of Jesus and His disciples in-the-midst of a storm. Part of the story reads.
38 Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?”
39 He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.
40 He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”
41 They were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!”
Do you or anyone you know have a storm going on in their life right now? If Jesus could calm that storm back then, do you think that Jesus could calm any storm in your life today? Jesus can help to bring peace and calm to you as well. We experience many challenges in life; the loss of loved ones, losing a job, divorce, illness…. There are some things like this that people can’t help with. When no one else can - Jesus can help!
Matthew 28:18
18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
